ISLAND TIMBER

We partner in log salvation operations with First Nations owned Island Timber

PROJECT SYNOPSIS

Island Timber sources logs primarily through salvaging to prioritize access to local First Nations communities and carvers, craftspeople, artisans, and secondarily to local high-value-added wood processing industries.

Island Timber Co. is a First Nations-owned carving school, log salvage, and custom milling partnership operating on the Malahat Nation.

Island Timber sources logs primarily through salvaging to prioritize access to local First Nations communities and carvers, craftspeople, artisans, and secondarily to local high-value-added wood processing industries.

They seek to redress the balance so this unique natural resource can be accessed by First Nations and local users instead of commodity markets.

Their commitment to creating a healthy supply chain of salvaged wood requires professionals and experts in forestry with skill, experience and a moral compass. They have partnered with Vancouver Island Forest and Marine to safely operate their salvage operations and deliver exceptional specialty wood products to artists, communities, and clients.
